Set sail for new Poole Harbour Boat Show

From marine insurers, to local chandleries and boat manufacturers, Poole’s first ever boat show is set to provide a host of exhibitors, and put Poole on the regional maritime calendar.

A range of prestigious names will be taking part in this spring’s inaugural Poole Harbour Boat Show. Running on the weekend of May 9th and 10th, Poole will host its very own dedicated boat show. Organised and operated by Poole Harbour Commissioners (PHC), the first ever Poole Harbour Boat Show will take place on Poole Quay and at PHC’s award-winning marina Poole Quay Boat Haven.

This free public event has been inspired by similar events and PHC believe Poole is a perfect location for an all-encompassing boat show celebrating the rich and varied boating business present in the town. A host of well-known exhibitors have signed up for this year’s show including Sunseeker, Fairline, Windy, Stingher Ribs, Bayliner, Sealine, Beneteau and Legend Yachts. Together with Spinnaker Yachts, Quicksilver, Cobalt and Weird Fish, a number of other companies will also be showcasing exciting new products and innovations throughout the weekend.

As well as a variety of marine-related businesses, Poole Harbour Boat Show will also include family focused entertainment and other elements associated with a regional boat show.

Visitors can enjoy on-the-water activities courtesy of the local yacht clubs, exclusive access to tall ships TS Pelican and Stavros S Niarchos, entertainment courtesy of the ‘Sunseeker Sessions - Great British Performance’ live music stage, which will include local bands The Dorset Wrecks, Bonsai Pirates and Empire Affair, plus the Saturday evening will be rounded off with a free firework extravaganza off Poole Quay.

Jim Stewart, Poole Harbour Commissioners’ chief executive is pleased to announce the new event for 2015. He said: “As we head towards 2017 and Poole’s hosting of European Maritime Day, the new boat show enables us to highlight the many varied businesses within the marine sector here. It is an opportunity for all Poole marine operators to come together and showcase the extent of work going on across the harbour. 2015 is as a vital year for the marine industry, and with a number of confirmed exhibitors, it’s a real chance for businesses to take hold of what is going to be a spectacular event and it will further endorse Poole as a world-class destination for nautical endeavours in the lead up to European Maritime Day in 2017.”

Sponsors confirmed for this year’s Poole Harbour Boat Show include Sunseeker, high-end property developer Excellare, Coleman Insurance, Barclays, Humphries Kirk law firm, Poole-based Mazars accountancy firm and Bates Wharf marine sales.
