Poole Harbour Boat Show ~ An impressive line-up of waterborne activities

There are just a couple of days until the start of the Poole Harbour Boat Show, in association with Sunseeker, which runs from 19th - 21st May.

In addition to more than 200 exhibitors, Royal Navy and Border Force vessels, four tall ships and the Sunseeker Sessions live music stage, there is an impressive line-up of on-the-water activities which includes the following:

  • Taster sessions: For those who want to see which water sport suits them best, there will be taster sessions on Saturday and Sunday for paddleboarding, dinghy and cruiser sailing. These will be provided by the Watersports Academy and Poole Yachting Association respectively.

  • Racing: Visitors to the show will also be able to see dinghy and yacht racing, together with junior RIB slalom racing on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Demonstrations: The RNLI, Border Force and Poole Harbour Commissioners will be putting on fascinating demonstrations which show what their work involves on a day-to-day basis. In addition, there will be an exhilarating display of flyboarding every afternoon courtesy of Aquatic Jetpacks. Attached to a jet ski, the flyboard can send the rider up to ten metres in the air.

  • Firework Display: The stunning Friday-night firework display celebrates the opening of the show. Sponsored by Sibbett Gregory, a local commercial property consultancy, it’s always a popular event. Start time is 21:30 on 19th May.

Jim Stewart, Chief Executive of Poole Harbour Commissioners (PHC) commented: “We have more than 25 on-the-water activities this year – which will give visitors to the show a fantastic chance to have a go at a new sport, watch the racing or find out how organisations such as the RNLI train and work. And, once again, we’re expecting a large crowd on Town Quay for the Friday night firework display.”

Getting to the show couldn’t be easier. On Saturday and Sunday, PHC will be providing car parking on the Port for just £5 per day. A free shuttle bus will run between the PHC car park and the Ballast Quay exhibition area. From here visitors can use the free passenger boat service provided by Greenslade Pleasure Boats to get to Town Quay and Poole Quay Boat Haven.

Poole Harbour Boat Show is open between 1000 and 1800 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
