Poole Harbour Boat Show - An impressive line-up of on-water activities

There’s just 5 weeks until the start of the Poole Harbour Boat Show in association with Sunseeker, which runs from 8th to 10th June.

In addition to more than 200 exhibitors, Royal Navy and Border Force vessels, the tall ship Queen Galadriel and the Amelie Rose and the ‘Sunseeker Sessions’ live music stage, there is an impressive line-up of on-water activities, sponsored by MAC Marine Claims, which include:

Taster sessions: For those who want to see which suits them best, there will be taster sessions on Saturday and Sunday for dinghy and cruiser sailing. These will be provided by Poole Yachting Association.

Racing: Visitors to the show will also be able to see dinghy and yacht racing, as well as junior RIB slalom racing on Saturday and Sunday.

Demonstrations: The RNLI, Border Force and Poole Harbour Commissioners will be putting on fascinating demonstrations which show what their work involves on a day-to-day basis.

In addition, there will be an exhilarating display from the new JetSurf, a motorised Surf Board with a top speed of 30 – 37mph.

The Newfs In Action group will also be making a special appearance on the Saturday, where a spectacular water rescue display will be performed by a 14 stone, lifesaving Newfoundland dog.

Firework Displays: The stunning Friday-night firework display celebrates the opening of the show. Sponsored by Sibbett Gregory, a local commercial property consultancy, it’s always a popular event. Start time is 21:45 on 8 June.

And new for 2018 is a second night of free fireworks for all to enjoy on the Saturday (9 June), sponsored by Brittany Ferries. Once again the start time for this stunning display will be at 21:45.

*All on-water-activities are subject to change and weather conditions.

Jim Stewart, chief executive of Poole Harbour Commissioners (PHC) commented: “The weekend is jam-packed with on-water activities this year – which will give visitors to the show a fantastic chance to have a go at a new sport, watch the racing or find out how organisations such as the RNLI train and work. And, once again, we’re expecting a large crowd on the Quay for the Friday night firework display.”

Getting to the show couldn’t be easier. On Saturday and Sunday, PHC will be providing car parking at the Ferry Terminal for just £5 per day. From here visitors can use the free passenger boat service to get to the Quay and the Poole Quay Boat Haven, courtesy of Greenslade Pleasure Boats.

The Poole Harbour Boat Show in association with Sunseeker is free to attend and open between 10:00 to 18:00 on 8th to 10th June 2018. For further details visit: pooleharbourboatshow.co.uk.

The Poole Harbour Boat Show is being supported by Sunseeker, Sibbett Gregory, Coleman Insurance, Conker Spirit, Elite Signs, Greenslade Pleasure Boats, Dorset Cruises, Lester Aldridge, PKF Francis Clark, British Marine Wessex, MS Amlin, MAC Marine Claims, Designosaur, Brittany Ferries and media partners Bournemouth Daily Echo and Wave 105.
